Chisora eager for Tyson Fury rematch

chisora34343By Scott Gilfoid: After hearing about how Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) had mentioned wanting to fight him in early 2014 before facing he arguably much more dangerous Deontay Wilder, Dereck Chisora (19-4, 13 KO’s) took to his twitter account to send a speedy message to Fury telling to contact his promoter to arrange their rematch.

Chisora even asked Fury if he wants to fight him as early as February 15th, which is when Chisora is scheduled to fight next in defending his EBU heavyweight strap against an opponent still to be determined at the Copper Box Arena in London, UK.

Fury sent a tweet earlier today saying that he wants to fight the following heavyweight: Roy Jones Jr., Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne, Chisora, and Deontay Wilder. Fury would then later come back with a tweet saying the order of the guys he wants to fight, and not surprisingly he has Chisora ahead of Deontay, Browne and Roy Jones Jr.

Fury says he wants to take a couple of tune-up fights first before he faces Chisora. One can only imagine what the quality of his tune-up opponents will be, because you can make a strong argument that all of Fury’s previous 21 opponents have been more or less weak tune-ups against over-matched foes.

“@Tyson_Fury Get your people to call my people and I guarantee we’ll have this fight arranged for next year, February or when your available,” Chisora said on his twitter. “@Tyson_Fury I thought you were retired? So when are you ready, shall we arrange it for the 15th February? Let me know!”

It didn’t Chisora long to try and put the fight together. I find the eagerness a real turn off, don’t you?

Fury said on his twitter “@dellboychisora u r 1 of my 6 fights for next year. Just don’t b all talk like Haye. Hear is how I want 2014 to go 2 warm up fights then @dellboychisora. Then @bigdaddybrowne1 the @BronzeBomber then @RealRoyJonesJr !!!!!”

When I see someone going backwards with their career the way that Fury is, it makes me see a red flag that there’s some confidence issues weighing Fury down. When someone goes backwards instead of forwards, it tells me that they’re not feeling up to the task of moving ahead. I mean, with all the fights that Fury has on his resume, he should be ready to step it up and fight a live body like Deontay. But the fact that we’re seeing Fury retreat backwards to an earlier stage to fight Chisora again, who he easily beat two years ago, I see Fury as lacking the confidence to challenge a talent like Deontay straight away. As far as Fury showing interest in fighting Browne and Jones Jr., I don’t understand that all, but it ties into possible confidence issues with Fury. If he felt confident about his skills, he should be willing to fight the likes of Kubrat Pulev, Chris Arreola, Bermane Stiverne and Deontay without the need of fighting 2nd tier guys.
