By Mark Havey: It wasn’t too long ago that the world witnessed the Filipino legend tear his way through numerous weight divisions. Along the way he accumulated many belts and big name scalps on his record. However, times catches up with us all. Manny Pacquiao was eventually knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez. Fans and writers predicted the end of a great champion.
Last weekend we saw the former pound 4 pound king, Manny Pacquiao, return to winning ways. The Iron jawed Brandon Rios made it to the final bell but was dominated. In fact it was hard to give him a single round.
In his last 3 fights, Pacquiao has dominated two talented, young fighters. In the other fight, he was winning until he was hit with a punch that would stop anyone Welterweight. So why was it stated by so many that his career was over? After all, only blind people and two judges believe that Pacquiao lost two in a row.
So what are the options of the only 8 weight world champion ever? of course Marquez is the best option. He convincingly beat Pacquiao in my eyes. However there are those that believe he wasn’t fighting within the rules and had extra help. Sadly Marquez is demanding money that team Pacquiao won’t pay. Fans still want to see Pacman face his long time rival Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather seems more receptive lately and will certainly earn more money and respect than fighting Amir Khan.
Espn.co.uk has stated that Pacquiao wants to face Timothy Bradley.
Pacquiao has the attention of the boxing world once again. He could face anyone and two things are certain, it will be a great fight, and we will be watching.
