Rosado feels like he’s been overlooked as a viable opponent for tonight’s fight and he thinks he’s going to shock the boxing world by stopping the 30-year-old Quillin.

Rosado said “I understand the whole champion is favored over the challenger. I don’t feel as I’m getting any credit for what I’ve done. That’s why I want to have an impressive performance and I’m planning to knock out Quillin.”

Rosado, 27, looked good in his last fight against J’Leon Love last May in a fight that was ruled a no contest after Love tested positive for a banned substance. Rosado fought well enough to get the victory, but it’s just too bad that it didn’t turn out that way. Rosado’s stock really rose from that fight despite the outcome. That’s perhaps why he was given the title shot against Quillin over higher ranked contenders that the World Boxing Organization has ranked.

Rosado also has impressive wins over Sechew Powell, Jesus Soto Karass, Ayi Bruce. Saul Roman, Latif Mundy and Kassim Ouma. However, he also has a recent stoppage loss to WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golokvin, as well as defeats against Alfredo Angulo, Derek Ennis, Fernando Guerrero, Joshua Onyango and Chris Gray. The loss to Guerrero kind of shows you the mess that Rosado is in tonight because Quillin stopped Guerrero in 7 rounds in his last fight in April of this years.

Quillin knocked Guerrero down four times in the fight, twice in the 2nd and two more times in the 7th to get the TKO victory. It doesn’t make Rosado look good that Quillin was able to easily handle a fighter that he lost to. The only thing position you can say about that is Rosado suffered his loss to Guerrero four years ago, and he’s since improved.

Rosado will need to take the fight to Quillin if he wants to impress fans and score a stoppage like he’s been talking about. If Rosado trots out the same plan that he used to try and beat Golovkin earlier this year, then he’s going to get beaten. Using movement against Quillin for 12 rounds is a sure fire way of losing the fight. The only times that Quillin has had to struggle during his career was when he faced an opponent that came straight at him looking to take his head off from the shoulders.

Quillin is a much different animal when he’s facing an opponent that is trying to knock him out with every shot then he is in facing an opponent that is playing it safe on the outside. Quillin hasn’t faced too many punchers during his career, so that’s also a big plus for Rosado. If he can go after in the early rounds, Rosado may have a chance of pulling off an upset in this fight. There’s a lot of unknowns about Quillin and his chin that still need to be answered, and Rosado has the type of power that can answer those questions.
