Povetkin, call up Delboy for mind games for Wladimir

wlad323It seems WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (26-0, 18 KO’s) and his team are really taking extreme measures in attempting to mentally disrupt the ultra calm IBO/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51 KO’s). Team Povetkin have taking the extraordinary step of asking Dereck Chisora to be the man who watches Wladimir being strapped for this Saturday’s bout in Moscow, Russia.

Delboy is best known for his antics surrounding his fight with Vitali Klitschko. He is infamous for slapping Vitali at the weigh in, spitting water in Wladimir’s face in the ring prior to the fight and then brawling with David Haye at the post fight press conference.

Bernd Boente immediately highlighted that if Chisora was to accept, then he would not be selected as a possible opponent for either brother in the future, though that was highly unlikely due to his previous antics.

The aim is to secure a mandatory spot for Chisora next year.

I highly doubt either outcome, whether he does or does not accept will alter the result of this fight. Wladimir will not be intimidated in anyway, if anything tricks like this probably show how desperate Povetkin is to get any slight advantage possible. The extremes they have gone to in order to play mind games with Wladimir seem to indicate he knows where he’s lacking and cant gain an advantage and that’s in the ring.

My question is should Chisora do it or not? It’s a hard one to call, unless he’s getting a nice payout for doing it there’s no real gain for Dereck except getting even further under the Klitschko’s skin. If he doesn’t do it, then maybe, just maybe he might get another crack.
