Jerry Forrest vs. Gerald Washington this Friday on Wilder-Liakhovich card

Norfolk, VA: Newport News own heavyweight boxer Jerry Forrest (7-0, 6 KOs) will face Gerald Washington (8-0, 5 KOs) on the Friday August 9 undercard of a heavyweight bout between Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KOs) and ex-beltholder Sergei Liakhovich (25-5, 16 KOs) to be televised on Showtime from The Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino in Indio, California. The fight will be aired on Showtime Networks channel ShoExtreme. Check your local listings for channel.

Forrest dabbled in football and basketball while at Woodside High School. Just a few months before graduation, he got into a fight as he was attacked from behind in a classroom, where Forrest then defended himself. That’s what sparked his interest into boxing. Since then, he has wowed the crowds with his KOs within the first round and his signature flip that he does after each win. He says the flip is a tribute to Hampton Roads own Gabby Douglas.
