By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KO’s) says he expects to have some news to announce next week about his upcoming November 16th fight. Ward isn’t ready to name his next opponent yet, but he’s hoping to have someone nailed down by next week.

One fight that Ward would like to happen in the near future if a rematch against IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch. Ward would like to face Froch in Las Vegas, Nevada in a pay per view fight.

Ward said to Radio Raheem “There’s Froch if he wants to step up. The bad blood between him and me is real. That’s a pay per view fight in Las Vegas, because of our history.”

I think Ward can pretty much forget about Froch stepping up to face him in a rematch, because that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon. Froch is facing fellow Brit George Groves next. And after that fight, Froch will likely be facing Mikkel Kessler in a third fight. From there on in, Froch will be matched carefully by his promoter Eddie Hearn, and definitely Ward won’t be a part of their plans.

Froch says he wants Ward to come to the UK to fight him. It doesn’t seem like Froch is really serious. I expect Froch to never face Ward ever again after the spanking Froch got by Ward in 2011 in the Super Six tournament. Froch saying yes to another fight with Ward would be like Froch volunteering to get whipped, and I don’t see that happening. From here on out with Froch, I see it all business decisions as far as opponents go.

Hearn will steer Froch into fights that he feels that Froch has a high an extremely high chance of winning, and Ward probably won’t get a rematch unless it’s the final fight of Froch’s career or something. I see Ward as the last cash out fight for Froch, and I doubt the interest will there be there by that point. Depending on how long Froch waits to fight Ward, it could be an old timers fight.
