Canelo and Mayweather face off(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Tewodore: You see the title, you know what it is! Floyd Mayweather Jr. {44-0, 26 KO’s) is the Hardest Button to Button. In my last few article’s I told you that the Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero fight was a forgone conclusion. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer promised him the fight and he got exactly what he wanted a butt whooping. Oscar De la Hoya has now pinned all of his hopes on one Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s).

As previously stated by this author Canelo  street is enemy territory for Floyd. After the cake walk down  Guerrero alley we come to a real contest or so it would seem, but truth be told, De La Hoya has made a big mistake. He has managed to anger Floyd, which is a bad move.  Here’s why Floyd is the HARDEST BUTTON TO BUTTON!

Throughout his storied career Mayweather has represented America in the Olympics bringing home a bronze medal. In his mind this is unacceptable.  Mayweather is his own biggest critic. In fact Mayweather is still stuck on not winning that medal.  He has beaten himself up over and over again. Why didn’t I win? How can I make it so this never happens again? The solution don’t let the opponent touch you. Thats the only solution approach every professional fight with an olympic attitude.

Floyd has a proverbial chip on his shoulder. He has never been given his just due in his eyes. Despite all the accolades all the money earned, despite the title of  WBC EMERITUS CHAMPION. That’s right the WBC acknowledges Floyd as the highest scholar amongst champions, he wants more. He wants respect. Will he ever get it, not in this lifetime. His yearning to be accepted as the best to be regarded as the greatest of all time is a futile endeavor.

The GOAT  distinction is reserved for those who have had comparable competition. In other words the guys you beat have to also be considered for that spot until they were beaten by you. Ali had it, in Frazier, Foreman, Patterson, Liston. Sugar Ray Robinson had it in the form of Lamotta, Basilio, Tunney, and a innumerable amount of tomato cans. Unfortunately for Mayweather he hasn’t had that competition during his prime. But now in his waning days he has the competition to truly punch that ticket. So it’s a good thing he has saved his body from undue punishment.  The twilight of his career will be the most strenuous portion of his career.

Back to Oscar’s mistake. During this long and nauseating promotional tour for “THE ONE” everything was going according to plan until De la Hoya finally disrespected Floyd in LA. I guess he felt safe being on his home turf to show his true motives. He wants that Button Buttoned . He’s been scouring the land searching high and low for “THE ONE” his little protege Saul Alvarez. His young pup, he can’t wait to sick him on Mayweather and sit back and watch Floyd be torn apart. Here’s where he messed up he called Alvarez a bigger star than Mayweather.

Why did he say that? You could visibly see the flames burning in Mayweather’s eyes. His me against the world attitude came to the surface. For this fight he will do exactly what his father tells him he will sit on his punches and put together combinations, Oscar overplayed his hand. Alvarez has many flaws compared to Floyd but his biggest disadvantage will be his corner.

Floyd called back his father because he has foresight. He knew that in order to finish his career undefeated he would have to change from the Floyd we know into a Floyd we have never seen before. The man for that task was none other than Floyd Sr.  Nothing against Chip Reynoso but compared to Floyd Sr we are talking  ground beef, to filet mignon.

The FACE-OFFS  over and over we had witnessed Floyd and Canelo close enough to each other to kiss.(a kiss of death) Their aura’s clashing invisible to some clearly visible to those with the ability to see it. This will be a tremendous fight one for the ages. Unfortunately for Canelo, Mayweather’s is holding back. Mayweather’s true potential has been hidden from view for quite sometime. I mean on September  14th Mayweather will possibly be in the ring with a man who may or may not outweigh him by 15 to 20 pounds. Who hits harder, is much younger, and genuinely wants what he has. In the face of this unprecedented challenge what has Mayweather done. He’s laughed, he smiled, he blushed. What does he know that we don’t. He knows that he’s no Austin Trout. Just like a hunter that tracks dangerous prey things can go wrong at any moment. But lets not forget who’s the prey here. At the end of the night Canelo’s head will be on Mayweather’s wall and he will remain for the time being THE HARDEST BUTTON TO BUTTON.

It’s about time for Floyd to stop picking on GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS. After Floyd defeats Canelo, yes I said defeat! He will have gutted Oscars company, to add insult to injury he will move on in rapacious fashion to Bob Arum’s very own Top Rank stable just to truly stick it to his arch nemesis Oscar De La hoya. The move will be justifiable his next two fights of any worth will surely come from the Top rank stable. The winner of the Marquez Bradley fight will loom as a appetizer while Floyd waits for Manny to rebuild his image.

In conclusion what we are witnessing here is one of the greatest athletes  of our generation put a stamp on his career. Floyd hasn’t carefully guarded his “0” he has cultivated it. He has dangled it in front of us the unabashed audience who long to see Mayweather get his loud mouthed, no good head taken off, and we will pay handsomely to see it. That’s why he’s always in the best shape, understands his opponents strengths and weaknesses, plays mental games and does  not go into the ring seeking victory. He locates victory then he enters the ring. On Sept 15th Floyd Mayweather will remain THE HARDEST BUTTON TO BUTTON, and we the fans will give him his praise for twelve hours. Then we will take apart his victory piece by piece, and explain why he’s not the best, come up with different guys he’s ducked and add more fuel to his insatiable desire for MONEY, POWER AND RESPECT.
