bika1By Scott Gilfoid: Newly crowned WBC super middleweight champion Sakio Bika (32-5-2, 21 KO’s) is interested in facing Carl Froch, Gennady Golovkin or Andre Ward for his next fight. Bika recently captured the vacant WBC 168 lb. title win a win over Marco Antonio Periban last month in beating him by a 12 round majority decision in a fairly close fight.

Froch, the IBF/WBA super middleweight champion, is the guy that Bika wants the most for some reason. Bika told Fightnews “Definitely, Froch is the fight I want…this is the fight that all boxing fans around the world want to see.”

I’m not so sure the boxing world is clamoring for a Bika vs. Froch fight. I think Bika needs to downsize his ambitions about fighting Froch and focus more on maybe trying to get a fight against Golovkin instead. I don’t think Froch will use up one of his last remaining fights on facing Bika in a unification bout.

I just don’t see that happening. Bika’s too dangerous and Froch is trying to maximize the little time he has left in his career by facing the likes of George Groves, Mikkel Kessler and possibly Ward before retiring. Adding Bika into the mix is more trouble than it would be worth for Froch. I mean, I could maybe see Froch taking that fight if he were somehow able to run the table and beat Groves, Kessler and Ward in that order.

Maybe Froch might be interested in facing Bika to unify the titles, but even then I still don’t see it. I think Froch is making his decisions now on which fights makes the most money rather than just going out to try and win another world title.

Golovkin would move up to fight Bika for his WBC title, but I’m not sure if the money would be there for that fight. HBO might want to show it, there are so many other arguably better options for Golovkin in his own weight class at 160 rather than having him move up to fight Bika for his WBC 168 lb. title.
