Huck and Afolabi have fought in 2009 and 2012 with Huck winning the first fight and then the second ending in a 12 round draw. Afolabi appeared to win the second fight, but fight was held in Germany and Huck was he home fighter. Not much more to say than that.

Saturday’s fight will also be in Germany, so Afolabi is going to have to either plan knocking Huck out or winning every round to ensure he can get a close decision. It’s unfortunate that he’ll have to do something really spectacular to win but that’s probably the extent of it.

Afolabi says he’s not struggling to make the weight this time because he’s been careful with his diet to not get too heavy.

Afolabi said to Sports Illustrated “I am eating properly…I quit eating cheeseburgers and other junk food and have turned to healthy foods instead. It makes a huge difference. I could make the weight right now. So by not having to make weight, I can concentrate on my training.”

Hopefully, Afolabi hasn’t hurt himself with his diet because sometimes fighters lose strength when they go on a lean diet to get down in weight.

Afolabi has been inactive since his 12 round draw with Huck last year in May. That could potentially hurt him due him possibly rusty. Of course, it also could help Afolabi by saving him from the wear and tear that he would have likely had if he had stayed busy after his draw with Huck.

As far as Huck goes, he won a grueling 12 round unanimous decision over Firat Arslan last November in a fight that many people felt he should have lost. Huck took a lot of punishment in that fight, and he’s not fought since then.
