By Jim Dower: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26 KO’s) came in totally ripped at 146 pounds today in his weigh-in against Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KO’s). The fight will be televised by Showtime pay per view from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Guerrero came in at one pound more than Mayweather at 147 lbs, but he looked slightly flabby and not nearly in as good as shape as Mayweather. However, Guerrero will likely add a lot of water weight in rehydration and step inside the ring out-weighing Mayweather by 12 to 15 pounds on Saturday night.

Guerrero said at the weigh-in: “I’m not intimidated at all by Mayweather. I’m ready to get it on.”

He insists that he’s going to stand his ground tomorrow night and put it on Mayweather the same way he did against Andre Berto. Guerrero wants Mayweather to stand and trade with him in close because he feels he’s got a big advantage over Mayweather in a one-on-one brawl.

Mayweather agree initially to fight Guerrero in a brawl type fight, but he later said his father Floyd Sr. had convinced him that it would be better to focus on his defense for the fight so that he doesn’t get hit so much in order to preserve his career.

It’s unclear what Mayweather will do once he gets in the ring, though, because he continues to say that he’ll fight whatever fight that Guerrero fights and beat him at this own game. More likely, Mayweather will try different things tomorrow night and stick with what works best for him.

If he’s able to get the better of Mayweather in a one-on-one brawl, then you can expect him to stick with that. But if Guerrero gives him problems with his size and inside game then Mayweather will no doubt adapt and focus on using movement to out-box Guerrero.
