Mikey Garcia: Pacquiao could get hurt by Rios

pac6By Chris Williams: WBO featherweight champion Mikey Garcia, a stable mate of Brandon Rios, feels that he could end up possibly hurting Manny Pacquiao in their fight in November. Mikey feels that Pacquiao’s brutal 6th round knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez last December was a very serious thing to where Pacquiao might not be able to comeback from the knockout.

He doesn’t see it as lack of toughness on Pacquiao’s part if he’s hurt by Rios, but rather his body not being able to handle getting hit hard after experiencing the knockout from Marquez.

Mikey said to the koncretejungle.com “He [Pacquiao] can get hurt if Brandon touches him. He’ll get hurt again. You want to see how Pacquiao comes out of a knockout loss. It [Pacquiao’s previous knockout loss] could be a big, big impact.”

Mikey feel that this is unknown territory for Pacquiao going into this fight with Rios in Macau, China on November 23rd because Pacquiao has never been knocked out like this before.

He’s been stopped in the distant past on body shots and head shots, but not like this. Marquez planted Pacquiao with that right hand and it had him out cold for close to 2 minutes. It’s guesswork at this point whether Pacquiao will ever be the same fighter again.

He doesn’t even know yet, but he’s going to find out by the time his fight with Brandon Rios is over because he’s going to touch him and test that his chin over and over again. If Pacquiao can’t take a punch anymore then we’ll see him knocked out like he was last December.

If that happens then he’s going to need to think seriously about retiring because it’s hard to imagine him coming back from that loss unless Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum steps him back against weak punchers in an attempt to save his career.
