Tyson Fury: Will you call Steve a bum when I beat him?

fury1qBy Daniel Mcglinchey: Outspoken heavyweight Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) faces off against two time world champion Steve Cunningham (25-5, 12 KO’s) this Saturday night at MSG, New York. During the press conference between the two heavyweights, a Cunningham fan in the crowd made the comment of “Who have you fought? Bums” Tyson’s reply was quite interesting “Everyone is a bum after Tyson Fury has beaten them, when I beat Steve is he then a bum too?”

Tyson’s last 10 opponents include 4 undefeated fighter’s when he went up against them, 2 world title challengers and the current English Heavyweight title holder (not bad for someone of only 24). Fury was a big underdog in the Derek Chisora battle. Chisora was respected and the clear favorite before the fight, but after Fury came out victorious winning virtually every round. Derek is then automatically a bum in many people’s eyes.

Another example is Kevin Johnson (28-3, 13 KO’s). Kevin was expected to out-think Fury and many people had him down to grab the win, but after Tyson cruised to an easy unanimous decision, Johnson is then branded a bum.

A large amount of Fury’s opponents have been ranked in the top 100, where as certain fighters out there have not faced one live opponent and are held as genuine contenders. Tyson is still very young and starting to look in my eyes like the real thing.

Steve Cunningham is ranked 12th best Heavyweight in the world at the moment. If fury beats him, will that then make Steve a bum?
