cleverly4By Mark Calooke: Robin Krasniqi (39-3, 15 KO’s) seemed confident in the build up. As the number #1 WBO contender he saw WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly’s (26-0, 12 KO’s) title ripe for picking pm Saturday night at the Wembley Arena, in Wembley, London, United Kingdom. Cleverly defeated Krasniqi by a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 119-109, 120-108, 120-108. How wrong could he have been. The fans didn’t seem to mind watching their man dominate.

Krasniqi stuck in there until the very end, but only because Cleverly stopped looking for the knock out. In fact he seemed bored. It would have been nice to see him keep concentration because he ended up taking more punches than he needed to.

Cleverly put himself on the ropes, dropped his hands and invited the his desperate opponent in. But even when Krasniqi was given free shots, the power wasn’t there. Nathan has always had a good chin but it’ still a little to reckless for my liking.

Krasniqi deserves respect. Beating his way to the number 1 spot proves he can fight. But he was fighting someone a league above. But I didnt give him a single round. Cleverly looked so relaxed you could be forgiven for thinking it was a sparring match.

This was a fight Cleverly had to take as his mandatory. But I hope he it isn’t long before we see him fighting the likes of Hopkins and Dawson. He will beat Hopkins. Dawson is a step too far in my opinion due to styles.
