Canelo: Without a doubt I’m going to beat Trout

canelo44By Dan Ambrose: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) says there’s no question in his mind that he’s going to beat WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) on April 20th and make him pay for having beaten his brother Rigoberto Alvarez two years ago.

Canelo says he was at that fight and he was very unhappy that all he could do was watch without helping his brother out. Trout beat Rigoberto by a 12 round unanimous decision in one of Trout’s easier fights of his career.

Canelo said to Showtime: “You could say the revenge is about blood. When I saw him at the press conference, I wanted to fight him already to see who’s better. It’s personal because Trout won against my brother. This is a vendetta of blood. Pride is everything in boxing. People who’ve seen me know I’ve been tested, but I’m going to win. Without a doubt, I’m going to win. This is personal because Trout beat my brother. I was there and I felt helpless. I wondered if I could have done better. When the day comes I’ll enjoy every moment. For me, it doesn’t exist the option to lose.”

It’s interesting to know that Canelo was all worked up and ready to pounce on Trout at their press conference because that tells you a lot about Canelo’s mind set, doesn’t it? If Canelo is hopping mad about Trout having beaten his brother in the past, it could result in Canelo fighting without any sense when the fight takes place in two weeks.

Trout says it’s not personal, as he sees the fight as a sport and he’s not looking at it as a revenge thing. What this means is he’s going to be thinking in a strategic manner rather than being a hot-head and just looking to take Canelo’s head off with every punch.

I think Canelo’s temper might be his biggest weakness. If you looked at his fight against Shane Mosley where things weren’t going his way, Canelo appeared to lose his cool and was fighting in a mild manner, while Mosley was cool and calm about sticking a jab in his face over and over again.

If Canelo goes berserk against Trout on April 20th then this fight could be a lot easier than many people thought it would be for Trout because he’ll be able to calmly pick off the primitive Canelo and easily pound out a lopsided 12 round decision.
