broner6By Allan Fox: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) can’t wait to get in the ring to prove himself against WBA World welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) in their fight on June 22nd at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

Broner said on his social media site “Hope the Magic Man ready cause I been ready!!!”

Broner wants the notoriety and the money he’ll get for beating the 32-year-old Malignaggi in this fight. There’s no question that Broner will receive a lot of attention for this fight, and the money will definitely be good even with it not being a pay-per-view bout.

It’s going the biggest payday of the 23-year-old Broner’s career, and if he looks good against Malignaggi in winning, it could be only the beginning. Broner is moving up two divisions to take this fight, and it’s still unknown whether he intends on staying at this weight or if he’ll move back down to 135 to continue to defend his World Boxing Council title.

For Broner to stay at 147, it’ll mean that he has to face guys like Keith Thurman, Marcos Maidana, Diego Chaves, Jessie Vargas, and Vyacheslav Senchenko, to name just a small handful of fighters that Broner will find himself possible facing if he stays at this weight.

Those guys are all beatable, but Broner would have to take a lot more punishment in beating these guys than he’s taken in the past at super featherweight and lightweight.

Malignggi has already tipped his hand by how he’s going to fight Broner when the time comes on June 22nd. Malignaggi says he’s going to use a lot of head movement, feints, jabs and movement to keep Broner constantly guessing. Malignaggi will fight Broner just like he did his last opponent Pablo Cesar Cano. Malignaggi fought well enough to edge a close 12 round decision, but he was far from impressive in this fight. Broner would likely have little problems beating that version of Malignaggi. If that’s how Malignaggi plans on fighting then he needs to expect that he’ll be losing his title on June 22nd.
