Audley: I did NOT drop Deontay Wilder in sparring; it was the opposite

harrison445By Scott Gilfoid: Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) finally spoke up to wipe out the nasty rumor that has been floating around for the past couple of months from some of his well-wishing fans about him supposedly having knocked the talented 6’7” KO artist Deontay Wilder down in a sparring session while Harrison was getting ready for his fight with British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price last October.

Audley said this on his twitter about that so-called incident: “I’ll put the stupid Internet talk to bed right now. I DID NOT put down @BronzeBomber in sparring. In the fact the opposite happened.”

There it is folks straight from Audley’s mouth. There was never any knockdown of Wilder. Instead of Wilder getting knocked down, it was Audley that tasted the canvas. It figures.

I just wonder who started the rumor because I’ve seen massive amounts of Audley’s loyal fans saying they were there in the gym at the time, even though sparring sessions are closed off to outsiders.

It just goes to show you the depths people will sink in order to shift dirt on a talented fighter in order to make their own fighter look good. These people invent make-believe stories to make their fighter look good, and that’s pretty sad indeed. It’s actually pathetic.

Deontay was classy enough to keep his mouth shut about what really happened in the sparring sessions because class fighters don’t brag about what happens in sparring sessions. That stuff is kept a secret. Wilder could have bragged about knocking Audley down, but he’s too good for that. It just shows the class of this talented American.

At any rate, Wilder and Audley will be meeting up next month on the Amir Khan vs. Julio Diaz undercard at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Wilder-Harrison fight ends up being a more exciting fight than the main even between Khan and Diaz. Audley has really improved since losing a lot of weight and dropping down to the mid-230s. I haven’t seen him look this good since he was in the Olympics in 2000.
