Tyson Fury: I’m going to KO David Price this Summer

fury1By Scott Gilfoid: Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) says he’s going to knockout unbeaten heavyweight contender David Price (15-0, 13 KO’s) this Summer.

It looks like the 6’9” Fury is suddenly changed his mind about wanting to fight the 29-year-old Price because he’s had zero into in fighting him thus far, and Fury even vacated his British and Commonwealth titles just so he wouldn’t have to fight him.

Fury said on his twitter “When I KO Price, also Phil Fury will KO Liam Walsh this Summer. [Steve] Cunningham, then Price.”

Oh boy, I feel really sorry for Fury. He’s going to get whipped by Price, and there are no ifs and buts about it. Fury loses that fight 365 days a year. He doesn’t have the power to compete with Price, and this is going to be a huge KO loss for Fury.

Don’t get me wrong; it’s not that Price is a great heavyweight or anything like that because he can be beaten if you’ve got Deontay Wilder and/or Klitschko type power. Fury is nothing more than a 12 round slapper, and those types do really poorly against Price.

While I think Price is a stiff-legged, robotic heavyweight with limited skills, he can punch and if he’s got a slapper in the ring with him like Fury, he’s going to find his chin over and over again and blast him out at some point. Fury will be forced to eat some monstrous right hands and left hooks from Price for 12 rounds, and given that Fury has shown to already to have a weak chin, I’m not liking his chances in this fight at all. Price is going to knock Fury out and that’s just the way it is.

I do respect Fury for finally getting it over with and deciding to fight Price, but I think it’s something Fury had to do at this point in his career. Fury lost SO much credibility with the UK boxing fans after he turned down the fight with Price that it kind of left him in a weakened position on the world stage.

At least in choosing to fight Price and taking his beating like a man, Fury can start over with his career afterwards and some fans will have more respect for him. It’s better that Fury get exposed now than later when he walks into the ring against one of the Klitschkos and gets totally annihilated in one or two rounds.

Price has a fight coming up this month against 41-year-old Tony Thompson on February 23rd in Liverpool, England. Price should win this fight, but you just can’t tell with Price because anything is possible with him if he gets hit just right by Thompson. Fury doesn’t have Thompson’s power, so he can’t do what Thompson has a slight chance of doing against Price.
