Hearn convinced Brook will beat Alexander after meeting him

alexander453434By Scott Gilfoid: Some people have weird ways of predicting who will win a particular fight. Eddie Hearn, the promoter for unbeaten #1 IBF welterweight contender Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s), says he knows Brook will beat IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13 KO’s) after he met him and looked at him.

Hearn could see it all from a glance at Alexander that he didn’t stand a chance against his guy Brook. I’m not sure what it was that has Hearn so sure of Brook winning. Perhaps it was Alexander’s mild mannered ways; he’s very polite and soft spoken to listen to him talk.

Hearn said to I Film London “We’re waiting for a new date next week. When I met Devon Alexander, I was even more sure Kell would beat him. I fancy that fight so much. I think Kell will beat Devon Alexander. I really, really do. Either he’s injured or they’re [Alexander’s management] looking at this as a 50-50 fight. Do they want to risk it for that kind of money or do they want to send him in a 60-40 fight, but cash him in for double the money. I know Kell’s going to do it, I know it. He’s got too much heart, too much desire. He won’t take no for an answer, and DeMarcus Corley [Kell’s sparring partner] said he’s the strongest welterweight I’ve ever seen, and he’ll have no problems beating Devon Alexander at all. So we’re waiting on that date, early April, early May.”

I think Hearn needs to find a better to predict the future for his fighter because just meeting another guy tells you nothing at all. You can look at someone and talk to them, but you’re not going to be able to predict anything because you don’t know what they’re capable of doing.

Alexander is 25-years-old, and he doesn’t seem a like a fighter to listen to him talk, but when he gets in the ring he’s completely different. Alexander is like Adrien Broner in that respect.

You get him out of the ring and he’s telling jokes, and you forget about what a good fighter he is. His personality is that good. Hearn seems to be overlooking the fact that Alexander is an athlete and a great fighter. He’s going to show Brook and Hearn what it’s like to face a truly world class fighter when he meets Brook in the future.

Right now they’re expecting Alexander’s right biceps injury to be healed by April, possibly May at the latest. It’s nothing sinister like what Hearn was talking about. Alexander isn’t trying to get out of the fight and neither is his team. The man has a legitimate injury.

I just wonder what made Hearn so mistrustful of Alexander. I mean, what has he done in the past for Hearn to be so suspicious. Is something that happens a lot with Brook in his fights in the UK?
