Froch: I’m going to put right the wrong that happened to me in Herning

froch2By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) still believes he should have won his previous fight against Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) from three years ago in Herning, Denmark. Froch lost that fight by a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 115-113, 116-112 and 117-111.

Those were perfectly reasonable scores and matched pretty much how the fight went down. I personally scored the fight 117-111 for Kessler, but 116-112 was also an acceptable score. However, Froch believes he would have won the fight had it taken place in the UK.

I don’t really see how the fight would have been any different in the UK, aside from the judges possibly giving Froch the benefit of the doubt and given him a decision that he didn’t deserve. That wouldn’t have pleased anyone because few boxing fans felt that Froch performed well enough to win.

Froch said to Sky Sports News “Myself and Rob McCracken [trainer] are going to be working meticulously in the gym to make sure that I put right the wrong that happened in Herning. My blood is boiling…I think about that loss when my head hits the pillow.”

Oh brother, get a grip man, you lost the fight and you deserved to lose. There’s no wrong to put right because the judges did their job and gave the decision to the fight man, Kessler. What do you expect the judges to do when they see someone losing almost every exchange in the fight? Kessler showed clearly that he was the better fighter during the entire fight, and that’s just the way it is.

Froch and Kessler will be meeting up on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. If Froch can’t fight any better than he did last time, then he’s going to get beat again. If the judges give Froch a decision like the one he got against Andre Dirrell in the UK, then I don’t see how that victory will help Froch any because it’ll be seen as another hometown decision and that’s not going to prove anything.
