Freddie Roach: Trains to Entertain

True fans don’t just see good fights, they feel them. They’re proud of their winners and cringe when they’re going down. Although winning is the name of the game, it does not always entertain.

Gatti fans would have payed to see him fight an eighteen wheeler at 80 mph knowing he would have went down swinging, win, lose or draw. Seeing a guy countering out of a turtle shell may win on points, but wont bring the crowd out of their seats. I recently went through my DVR deleting hours of matches and skimming over the ones to keep. Even in fast forward you can see the action packed fights.

Most of the keepers had one thing in common, Freddie Roach. His game plan is simple, offensive-punching-pressure which forces only two reactions, return fire or get beaten down. Either way it makes for a great time well spent with friends & pizza . They can’t all win all the time, but when they go down in a blaze of toe to toe punches and when one of them just can’t take it anymore, we LOVE it! It forces true boxing fans to respect even the defeated.

We honor it because they’re fearless, a rare trait everyone wants. Freddie finds heart, and trains aggression. Naturally they can’t all be cut out for it, but the ones who are, put on a great show. Amir khan for instance didn’t lack defensive training {in my opinion} he just got a bit overconfident when he was in control. I look forward to a rematch with Danny.

Lately it seems that nobody can wait to insult and criticize the boxers and the game, yet everyone likes Freddie Roach. I think it’s because if you see him in the corner you know he’s sending out a warrior to fight. Freddie I’d drive to LA right now if I thought I could get an autograph..Thanks for all the great fights!
