floyd44By Omar Torres: Boxing has evolved over the years as an international sport, and boxers from all over the world have kept our sport thriving .I personally appreciate the boxers and the sold out boxing event’s that happen all over the world. So I did a list of the top three boxers of four major countries that produce the current great boxers that we see today, the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Feel free to write a comment of your counties top 3 boxers below.

United States

1.Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0)- He is the P4P king and practically no one has figured him out. Floyd has beaten guys like Oscar De la holla, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto to reach the P4P throne. Floyd Mayweather is 1# in many categories and I think the top Fighter in the U.S is one of them.

2.Andre Ward (26-0)- The 2004 Olympic gold medalist also won the Super 6 boxing classic tournament by beating Carl Froch in the finals capturing the WBA Super middleweight title. Ward has also beaten a good fighter in Chad Dawson in his last bout. Ward could very well be the next P4P king in the future as he is ranked 2# in the P4P ranking and ranked #2 in the United States.

3.Adrian Broner (25-0)- Even though Broner has a long way to go to become an elite fighter, he has shown that he is real and is here to stay. Broner just straight out classed Antonio Demarco in his last fight. I know Broner at 3# is arguable  because he hasn’t had a fight with a big name fighter yet, but I think in the U.S he is 3# as of now.

United Kingdom

1.Carl Froch (30-2)- Losing to Andre ward at the super 6 boxing classic tournament, Froch bounced back as an underdog defeating the undefeated Lucian Bute for the IBF Super middleweight title. Froch also has won against good fighter such as Jean Pascal, and Andre Dirrel, This makes him 1# from the U.K.

2.David Haye (26-2)- I know what you thinking, why not guys like Tyson Fury or Kell Brook at#2. The reason why is that David Haye has cemented himself as an elite heavyweight and Fury hasn’t fought anyone impressive yet, Kell also needs to step it up.When Haye schooled and knocked out Derek Chisora he convinced me that he still has it and is capable of possibly beating Vitali Klitschko.

3.Amir Khan (27-3)- If it was 2 years ago I would of ranked King Khan at #1, but Khan has slipped losing to Lamont Peterson and bring k.O’d by Danny Garcia. I rank Khan at 3 and barely because he has fought and won fights against good fighters like Zab Judah, Marcos Maidana, and Pauli Malignaggi. In Khan’s last fight against Carlos Molina, Khan showed his fast hands and he great foot movements and showed more discipline. I think Khan will bounce back at get another chance at Danny Garcia.

Mexico

1.Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1)- JMM has proven to the world that he is still among the best in boxing by knocking out Manny Pacquiao cold. Marquez is a superb counter puncher and has ring smarts. He is definitely the best from Mexico at this moment.

2.Saul Alvarez (41-0-1)- Canelo is growing in popularity and is becoming a better fighter with each fight he is in, but he still needs a big name fights to bring him up the P4P rankings. This puts him at #2 coming out of Mexico.

3. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.(46-1-1)- Julio just got school by the talented Sergio Martinez and looked like he was lost throughout most of the fight. But he showed me that he has extreme toughness and has knockout power,Chavez showed that he can hang with the big boys.Chavez is a work in progress and I believe he is going to be a great fighter.

Puerto Rico

1. Miguel Cotto (37-4)- I think Miguel Cotto still owns the throne as the best boxer from Puerto Rico even though he has lost his last two fights in the hands of Floyd Mayweather and Austin Trout. No other Puerto Rican boxer can top what Cotto has done so far in his career.

2. Danny Garcia (25-0)-From Philadelphia but Puerto Rican decent, Garcia beat Erik Morales not once but twice winning the WBC Light Welterweight title in the first match. When he beat Amir Khan for the WBA Light Welterweight title is when Garcia caught my eye. Garcia has knockout power and has ring smarts which makes him a dangerous fighter.

3.Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-2)- is a young Puerto Rican boxer who is on the rise. Some people say that he will one day take over Miguel Cotto’s spot as top Puerto Rican boxer. Only time will tell because he is yet to face a big name boxer.
