Rosado: I’m going to dominate Golovkin

golovkin54By Allan Fox: Gabriel Rosado (21-5, 13 KO’s) sees himself having an easy fight coming up against WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KO’s) on January 19th on HBO at the Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. Rosado doesn’t even see it as a fight, as he thinks his skills and power will be too much for the 30-year-old former Olympian Golovkin.

Rosado said to thaboxingvoice.com “I feel the kind of performance I’m going to have, I’m going to dominate this guy [Golovkin]. I don’t feel this will be close. I’m going to dominate this guy. People are going to be shocked, Man.”

I guess you can’t blame Rosado for his confidence. He has dominated his last seven opponents since losing to Derek Ennis by a 10 round majority decision in July 2010. However, the best guys that Rosado has faced of those seven wins are Charles Whittaker, Sechew Powell and Jesus Soto-Karass.

Golovkin is clearly better than those fighters, so I think Rosado might have some problems on January 19th because he’s not going to be able to walk through Golovkin like he did against the likes of Whittaker, Soto-Karass, Ayi Burce and Jamaal Davis.

Golovkin is too experienced and he hits too hard. Rosado may not respect Golovkin’s power and ability right now, but he’s going to have to show him some respect on fight night because Golovkin will take his head off if he doesn’t fight defensively to keep from getting hit hard.

Rosado is going to need to work on his inside fighting because he’s really weak in that area. Alfredo Angulo was able to smash Rosado out in two rounds in 2009, and there really hasn’t been much improvement in Rosado’s game since then from looking at his recent fights. He leaves himself wide open to the head when he gets in close with his opponents, and if he does that against Golovkin he’ll get knocked out quick.
