Andre Ward: Froch & Kessler really don’t want to fight me

ward322By Scott Gilfoid: The talented WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14 KO’s) thinks IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch and WBA champ Mikkel Kessler have been just name dropping his name to get attention from the boxing fans to try and show that their interested in facing Ward.

The American Ward doesn’t see Froch or Ward as having any genuine interest in fighting him, and he just wants the two of them to tell the boxing fans that they really don’t want to face him so that the fans aren’t deceived.

Ward said to sportsillustrated.cnn.com “They [Froch and Kessler] keep bringing my name up, there is no validity to what they are saying. Neither of them really wants to fight Andre Ward. Froch has to understand that I went into our fight wounded [with a broken left hand]. He really doesn’t want to fight.”

Ward is going to be waiting a long time for Froch or Kessler to come out just say they don’t want to fight him, but Ward doesn’t need them do spell out for him because actions speak louder than words. Believe me, when the winner of the Froch-Kessler fight chooses to fight someone else later on in 2013, they’ll be speaking to the boxing public with their actions rather than their words. They don’t need to say anything with words because their behavior will tell the boxing fans what time it is. They’ll know that the winner didn’t want any part of Ward.

It must drive Ward crazy to hear Froch and Kessler flapping their gums as if they want to fight him, only to see them go off into another direction, but that’s what happens when you’ve got the kind of talent that Ward has. He’s like the Goliath now in the super middleweight division, and nobody wants to fight Goliath right now. He’s too hungry.

My prediction is if Froch beats Kessler, Froch will then say he’s got to fight a rematch with Lucian Bute, and if not him, then Adonis Stevenson. If Kessler wins, he’ll probably fight a unification bout with Arthur Abraham, the WBO champ. I don’t see either Froch or Kessler fighting Ward in 2013, 2014, 2015 or ever
