People just want Floyd to lose

floyd3467By Robert Elmore: I just come to the conclusion that people just want to see Floyd Mayweather lose. There was no need to create a dialog before the article. Every I turn I see articles about him ducking this fighter and that fighter. When he does fight them and beats them handily, there is always an excuse.

When he fought the young Victor Ortiz, people said he was inexperienced. When he fought Marquez, it was he fought a blown up light weight. But this is the same bloated light weight that just flattened Manny Pacquiao like a pancake.

When he fought Shane Mosley, the comments where “Shane would give Floyd trouble because he is bigger, stronger and faster than Floyd. This will be his toughest challenge yet”. People forget that Shane had just destroyed Antonio Margarito for his belt a year prior.

The obsession from the public for Floyd to lose has gone to new heights now that Pac has lost. Boxing fans has said that Floyd is ducking, WBC interim champion, Robert Guerrero. But now that the fight is taking place, Floyd is cherry picking. I like the fight for two reasons. One, Guerrero is a YOUNG…let that sink in for a moment……hungry champion with something to prove. Two, it will silence all those who say southpaws give Floyd problems. He’s currently undefeated against southpaws by the way. When this fight takes place, Floyd would have been out of the ring 8 months and will 36 years of age. People looked at Robert’s fight with Andre Berto and assumed that he can automatically beat Floyd. Not so. Every fight is different and Floyd is the master at making adjustments during the fight.

Furthermore, people are screaming for Floyd to fight middleweight champion Sergio Martinez and junior middleweight Saul Alvarez. Fighting Sergio has two excuses already in place. One, Sergio is pushing 40 years of age. Two, he would have to drain himself down to 154 to make the fight happen. Martinez walks around between 170-180 pounds when he’s not fighting. Floyd is not a natural 154 pounder and has only weighed in at 150 pounds for both his trips to the junior middleweight division (De la Hoya and Miguel Cotto). Martinez would surely rehydrate past 160 pounds making him a super middleweight. In my humble opinion, Martinez needs to fight Andre Ward and stop trying to fight Floyd. He’s just looking for a big pay day. Saul Alvarez is another young fighter that wants a shot at Floyd. There are mixed emotions about this fight amongst fight fans.

Some believe that Canelo doesn’t deserve a fight with Floyd and others do. Canelo hasn’t fought any of the other champions in his division nor has he fought anybody in the top ten. Sergio can go in that category as well. Up until he fought Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. he hadn’t fought anybody that was top caliber. But some fight fans don’t care. They just know that both Canelo and Martinez are bigger than Floyd and want him to see lose. And this is why some want to see Mayweather stand toe to toe, wing punches, get reckless, and get caught with a punch he didn’t see coming. The fact is, there haven’t been many punches that he doesn’t see coming. So people can scratch this off their wish list.

For those who say Floyd avoided this fighter and that fighter, you can properly thank Top Rank CEO Bob Arum and match maker Bruce Trampler. These two guided Floyd’s career until Floyd decided to part ways in 2006 to take command of his own career. Many are still under the impression that Floyd ducked Miguel Cotto while they were both at 140; and Antonio Margarito. The source provided below will show that Floyd did not duck either fighter. It was a simple cases Arum not wanting to give Floyd the money he asked for.

Now many will not research these facts because their world will be torn apart by the truth. His last fight on Top Rank was April 8th 2006. Mayweather was 36 and 0 at this point Floyd had earned the right to fight whomever he liked. He’s had great success financially since leaving Top Rank. But the moral of the story is people just want Floyd to lose. Until Floyd retires, the media will be building up a fighter they feel can beat Floyd. 43 have tried and 43 came up short.
