Image: Eubank Jr. defeats PryceBy William Mackay: Unbeaten middleweight prospect Chris Eubank Jr. (8-0, 3 KO’s) defeated Bradley Pryce (30-12, 18 KO’s) by an 8 round points decision on the Tyson Fury vs. Kevin Johnson undercard on Saturday night at the Odyssey Arena, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. The referee Steve Gray scored the fight 80-73.

The fight was a lot closer than that, however, as the 31-year-old Pryce was able to land a lot of hard shots all throughout the fight. Eubank Jr landed a lot of punches and looked good, but his power wasn’t all that impressive. Pryce looked like the harder puncher of the two, but he wasn’t able to land enough of his shots to get the win.

Eubank Jr. is going to have to find some power if he wants to amount to something at middleweight because he’ll have problems once he’s moved up. If Eubank Jr. can’t improve his power then he needs to work on his defense. Eubank tries to move his head back when shots are thrown at him, but his reflexes don’t seem quick enough to avoid a lot of the shots thrown at him unfortunately. He looks highly skilled but his lack of power, speed and defense will probably limit how far he can go. Right now, Eubank Jr. looks far below the likes of Martin Murray, Matt Macklin and Darren Barker.

Eubank Jr’s father Chris Eubank mentioned James DeGale as someone they’re targeting in the future.
