Wladimir needs to get rid of Wach as quick as possible

By Jason Kim: If trainer Emanuel Steward were still around today to help get IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (58-3, 50 KO’s) ready for his November 10th fight against the big punching Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KO’s), Steward would likely tell Wladimir to try and KO the 6’7 1/2″ Wach as soon as possible and not to let him stay in the fight due to the risk involved because of Wach’s powerful right hand.

That’s a game changer of a punch if Wach can land it against Wladimir’s fragile chin. Steward never believed in letting dangerous fighters hang around if you’d could help. Wladimir and Wach will be fighting at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

Wach is one of those guys that basically has little going for him other than his power. He’s not good defensively, he doesn’t have good hand speed, his jab is poor, he doesn’t have left hand power, and he doesn’t move well around the ring. The only thing that Wach has in this fight is his right hand. That might be enough if he can land that shot cleanly, because he doesn’t need anything else but that one big money punch to take Wladimir out for the count.

It’s been years since Wladimir has been beaten, dating back to his first fight with Steward as his trainer back in 2004 in a loss to Lamon Brewster in April 2004. However, Steward isn’t there anymore and we could find out in a real hurry that he was the glue that kept Wladimir’ fragile game together. Steward was the mastermind to making Wladimir unbeaten all these years, and now that he’s gone you have to believe that Wladimir might not be the same fighter without him there in his corner.

One of the frustrations that Steward had with Wladimir was his tendency to fight to fight too timidly by letting his opposition just hand around instead of going after them the way that Steward wanted him to in order to get an easy KO. It looked like Wladimir was afraid to try and KO anyone after being knocked out by Corrie Sanders, Ross Puritty, and Brewster, all of which Wladirmir tried to KO but was stopped.

Wach is so big that if Wladimir tries to play it safe against him that he could end up getting knocked out because Wach will be able to find Wladimir with his big right hands and his long reach.
