By Dan Ambrose: Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KO’s) and Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) made weight today during their weigh-in for their clash on HBO on Saturday night at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, in Ontario, California. Berto weighed in at 146.8 pounds, whereas Guerrero came in a little lighter at 146.4.

Other weights on the card:

Keith Thurman 151.25 – Carlos Quintana 152
Randy Caballero 119.2 – Rigoberto Casillas 118.8

Berto looked good and has to be considered a big favorite to win on Saturday night against the slower but very ambitious Guerrero. Berto has a lot of things going for him in this fight because he’s a natural welterweight with the speed, size and power to give Guerrero a lot of problems. Guerrero is someone that has eaten and exercised his way to the welterweight division.

Guerrero defeated WBC Silver welterweight champion Selcuk Aydin by a 12 round unanimous decision in his last fight in July of this year to claim the WBC interim welterweight title. Guerrero was hoping that once he had the interim WBC title that the WBC full champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. would show interest in fighting him. However, Mayweather noted that Guerrero doesn’t have a large fan base, so he chose to ignore him rather than take the fight.

This could change if Guerrero is able to beat Berto in an impressive manner. That’s hard to imagine because Guerrero looked anything but impressive in beating Aydin in his last fight. He got the win but he didn’t impress fans with his lack of speed, power and conditioning.

Keith Thurman and Carlos Quintana will be battling in a 10 round bout at junior middleweight. Thurman wants to get a top 15 ranking so he can take on the best fighters at 154. However, it’s not going to be easy because Quintana has a lot of skills and experience going for him. Thurman has never faced anyone as good as Quintana, and he could struggle against him.
