Roger sees those guys as important opponents for Mayeather Jr. to fight.

Speaking with interviewer Jenna Jay of On the Ropes Boxing Radio at doghouseboxing.com, Roger said “He’s [Mayweather Jr] going to get back in the ring. Floyd’s still better than 90% of the [fighters] out there…Floyd would still whoop Pacquiao, he would still whoop Timothy Bradley.”

There’s no question that Mayweather Jr. would beat both Pacquiao and Bradley. That kind of goes without saying. Pacquiao is aging and slowing down badly, while Bradley doesn’t have much power and is more of a mover type of fighter. The problem here is that those guys fight for Top Rank and Mayweather might not be interested in fighting them under those conditions.

The only guys that Mayweather would have problems with are at junior middleweight. Mayweather Jr. shouldn’t be fighting at 154 because he doesn’t have the size to be safely fighting guys with more power and bigger frames than him. A younger Mayweather Jr. beats those guys anyway but it might be hard for Floyd to beat a young Saul Alvarez and Austin Trout. Cornelius Bundrage would be a tough out for Floyd because of how much bigger and stronger he is compared to Mayweather. Erislandy Lara and Vanes Martirosyan are guys that Mayweather could handle with no sweat, but Bundrage, Alvarez and Trout would be tough fights for him.

At welterweight there’s no one there that can hang with Mayweather. He beats Pacquiao, Kell Brook, Bradley and Devon Alexander. That’s a pretty thin division in terms of talent and none of them can hang with Mayweather. The light welterweight division would be even easier for Mayweather. He beats Amir Khan, Brandon Rios, Danny Garcia, Lamont Peterson, Juan Manuel Marquez and Lucas Matthysse.

Roger is underestimating Floyd Jr. He beats 100 percent of the fighters from 140 to 147. His problems is at 154 and 160. Mayweather would struggle against guys in those weight classes and if he’s smart he won’t bother fighting them.
