Lebedev, 33, picked up the World Boxing Association cruiserweight title after the previous champion Guillermo Jones failed to fight Lebedev earlier this year.

The southpaw Lebedev has a lot of power and holds wins over a faded Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney. Lebedev has also beaten Alexander Alekseev and Enzo Maccarinelli by knockouts. However, he hasn’t done a lot since losing to WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck by a controversial 12 round split decision in December of 2010. Lebedev wasn’t given a rematch with Huck, and he’s been content with beating Jones Jr, Toney and Shawn Cox.

Sildgado, originally from Colombia and now living in Brooklyn, New York, has faced little more than C level opposition during his 8 year pro career and has built up and impressive looking resume off of those bouts.

It’s disappointing that he’ll be stepping it up for the first time in his career when he faces Lebedev on December 17th, and it doesn’t bode well for Silgado. He’s not had to fight any eliminator bouts against top contenders, so he’s just been picked out of the pile by Lebedev and his management.

Silgado is a seven time Colombian national amateur champion.

Lebedev will likely have no problems winning this fight, as Silgado doesn’t have the experience to win this fight.

Silgado is very easy to hit and he doesn’t throw a lot of punches. He’s got a right hand, but he leaves himself open when he throws his telegraphed rights. Against southpaw journeyman Luis Oscar Ricail (22-23-2, 16 KO’s), Silgado was dropped by a left hand in the 2nd round of the fight. Although Silgado got up and was able to win the fight by a 2nd round knockout, it showed how easy he is to hit.
