Image: Hearn: A Khan-Brook fight will be on our terms, not Khan'sBy Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is already looking past his fighter Kell Brook’s next fight on January 19th against IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13 KO’s) towards a fight between Brook and Amir Khan. Hearn says for a fight between Khan and Brook to take place it’ll have to be his liking.

In other words, Hearn is seeing himself and Brook in the power position by virtue of the IBF 147 pound strap that Brook hasn’t even won yet. Is that silly or what? The chances of Brook beating Alexander are EXTREMELY remote and yet here is Hearn planning a future schedule for Brook that looks past that fight as if it’s already a win on Brook’s record.

Hearn said to the BBC Radio Sheffield “He’s [Khan] coming off back to back losses, he has no belt and he doesn’t really bring that much to the table. If Amir Khan wants to fight for the title we’ve won it then that’ll b on our terms.”

That’s a laugh. I mean, I don’t see Brook beating Alexander, so that’s the first problem. The second is Khan has a ton of unfinished business at 140, and if he tries to move up to the welterweight division after his next fight on December 15th against little 5’6″ lightweight Carlos Molina then Khan is going to look bad in the eyes of a lot of boxing fans who will be wondering why Khan isn’t trying to clear up the business of his losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia.

You’d have to think that Khan would have to beat both of those guys before he could even consider moving up in weight to fight Brook for a title that he’s not even won and likely won’t win. Khan will not be able to avenge his loss to Garcia, because that guy will knock him out every day for the rest of his life if they were to fight. He’s just too strong and Khan’s chin is too weak.

I doubt Khan will ever fight Peterson again, and that’s on him if he doesn’t because he holds a victory over him. But Khan never fought Breidis Prescott again despite the fact that he sparked Khan out in one round four years ago, so I won’t be surprised if Khan never fights him.
