Cotto said as quoted by RingTV “I only have one thing to say to him. ‘Come with the fight of your life, because you’re facing the fighter of your life.”

You can make an argument that Trout is taking a step down in competition from his last opponent Delvin Rodriguez, who is both younger and more versatile the 32-year-old Cotto at this point in his career. Trout easily beat Rodriguez by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision in a fight where Trout never allowed Rodriguez to even get into the fight. The 5’10 1/2″ Rodriguez is taller than Cotto and go do a lot more things than him, but Trout shut him down completely in winning an impressive decision.

Cotto only has one way of winning on Saturday night and that’s by slugging it out with Trout and scoring a knockout. If Cotto can’t take Trout out of there then he’s going to lose the fight, because Trout is the much better boxer of the two. Cotto is the better slugger, but that’s kind of a meaningless quality if Trout doesn’t allow him to slug with him.

Trout said “I’ll be a lot bigger than him.”

Trout says he’ll be around 170 when he faces Cotto on Saturday night, meaning that he’ll have around a 10 pound weight advantage to go along with his three inch height and five inch reach advantage. It’s going to be tough on Cotto because he’s got so much size, reach, speed and youth that he’s going to be giving up for this fight. Cotto will do well only if Trout lets him in close and allows him to slug. If not, then it’s going to be a one-sided decision win for Trout.
