Image: Broner to show DeMarco that he doesn't belong as a belt holderBy Scott Gilfoid: Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) on the verge of forcefully stripping the title belt from WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. For DeMarco, it’s going to be likes he’s going back to the scene where he was batted around the ring by Edwin Valero.

Broner is going to put DeMarco right back where he was on that night two years ago by pounding him at will in front of what will likely be a huge nationwide crowd that will be tuning in on HBO to watch the talented Broner do his work. Broner has got the talent that most boxers can only dream of.

DeMarco beat John Molina by a 1st round knockout last September and that fight has some boxing fans thinking DeMarco can beat Broner. Boy, they’re going to be in for a big surprise when they find out how much better Broner is compared to DeMarco.

What’s so amazing about Broner is he reduces excellent fighters to a pile of jelly in the ring from the force of his huge blows. He just doesn’t stop once he’s got an opponent melting from his blows. We saw that recently with Broner basically massacring a really good fighter in Vincente Escobedo. That should have been a tough fight for Broner because Escobedo has given a lot of top fighters a ton of problems. But Broner made it look easy by breaking Esconedo’s nose and whipping him until the fight was stopped after only five rounds. Broner did the same with Eloy Perez, a formerly unbeaten fighter, by destroying him in only four rounds. Broner also took out Jason Litzau in one round.

DeMarco’s scalp is going to look really good in being added to Broner’s resume. That’s an impressive scalp to add because DeMarco is considered to be the guy at 135. Beating him will show the class and talent that Broner has going for him. Heck, there’s no point in Broner sticking around and fighting at lightweight after he dismantles DeMarco because there’s no other talented fighters left after he destroys DeMarco.

Broner needs to move up to welterweight and skip 140 altogether because he can’t waste time beating up on the likes of Danny Garcia and Amir Khan. That’s not even worth it. Broner needs to go after the fading stars Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao while they’s still relevant.
