Broner unlikely to step into the ring against Burns

Image: Broner unlikely to step into the ring against BurnsBy Marcus Stewart: Newly crowned WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner stated to HBO that he’d fight anyone, be that at lightweight or weights above. I can’t see this being true, considering the fact that Ricky Burns would most likely spank him in a unification bout. Adrien Broner wants nothing to do with the Scottish talent.

There has been a lot of talk about them fighting but I don’t get why? Adrien Broner is overly hyped up by the American media and overall has a very basic style that is easy to exploit. Broner was exposed embarrassingly against the hard punching Daniel Ponce de Leon. He was hit with some many body shots, it looked like he didn’t know how to cover up and block punches.

Ricky Burns have been improving ever since his sensational upset victory over Roman Martinez for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super featherweight title. From then he’s gone from strength to strength, out boxing or demolishing whoevers been put in front of him. His last fight against tough as nails Kevin Mitchell was fantastic as he was able to stop the talented Englishman in the 4th round. It was unfortunate for Mitchell who looked promising in the first 3 rounds but Burns proved too much. Unlike Broner Burns has faced quality opposition ever since becoming a world champion and has beaten quality names such as Paulus Moses and Michael Katsidis.

Some people, especially a certain someone, believe that Burns should fight Antonio DeMarco and that it would be an easy win for DeMarco. Clearly those who stated that don’t know anything about boxing considering the fact that Burns is bigger and much more technically gifted, nevertheless I do rate DeMarco as he’s tough as they come and only lost to Broner because Broner kept using his shoulder. Ricky Burns against Adrien Broner is more one sided than people think and I can see “the problem” being totally outclassed by Ricky Burns and it wouldn’t surprise me if Burns took the over-hyped American out.
