I don’t know what the hangup is with the training wheels being kept on the 29-yar-old Price this long, but this is a classic waste of time fight for the former 2008 Olympic bronze medalist from Britain. There’s no real logic to keeping Price still fighting 2nd tier opposition at this advanced age. When a fighter is as old as Price they should have already been fighting quality top tier opposition a long time ago.

I don’t care if Price hasn’t had a lot of fights, he still should have been facing better opposition given his advanced age and his prior Olympic experience. Taking part in the Olympics is like pro fights because the opposition is so good. Price did struggle in the Olympics unfortunately, getting stopped by Roberto Cammarelle but he still should be fighting better opposition than 45-year-old Skelton.

Price defeated 40-year-old Audley Harrison by a 1st round knockout in his last fight last October. This was supposed to be a fight that was going to give Price some valuable experience, at least that was the excuse for Price fighting Harrison. Boxing experts saw it as a terrible mismatch, and that’s exactly what it turned out to be as Harrison folded immediately after getting hit with a few solid shots.

Price will be lucky if Skelton can make it past the 1st round, because he really needs at this point. Price is blowing these 3rd tier fighters out too quickly for him to get anything from it and when he does eventually fight someone with a pulse and a little bit of power, I see Price being smashed in the same way he was in his loss against Cammarelle. He’s knocking his over-matched opposition out but not learning anything because they’re not throwing punches back at him. When Price fights someone decent he’s going to be in for the shock of his life when he gets hit.
