Image: Senchenko has good chance of whipping HattonBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA World welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko ( 32-1, 21 KO’s) may have looked like harmless paper champion in his last fight in getting taken out by Paulie Malignaggi last April, but Senchenko has a much better chance against the plodding Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) on November 24th at the Manchester Arena, in Manchester, UK.

What gives Senchenko a good chance of beating Hatton in this fight is because of Senchenko’s huge height and reach advantages, as well as his ability to box. He’s a much better boxer than Hatton, and he’s been active all these years, whereas Hatton has been sitting on his duff doing nothing.

Here’s are the reasons why Senchenko can beat Hatton:

* 5 inch reach advantage

* Quicker hands

* Better mobility

* Superior defense

* A more active fighter

* Better chin

Hatton just fights in straight lines. He comes right at his opponents as if he’s unwound by a long string. He tends to try and maul his opponents on the inside if he’s allowed by the referee. That kind of style won’t work against a fighter like Senchenko because he doesn’t let guys fight him in close. He moves away and uses his jab. He’s not going to stand there all night long Kostya Tszyu did when he was mugged by Hatton way back in 2005.

Senchenko will stick and move. Hatton won’t be able to do what Malignaggi to Senchenko by pounding him with jabs and cutting him up. Malignaggi was able to do this because he had the same reach as Senchenko, so he had no problem landing his shots. Hatton won’t be able to do this because he’s giving away nearly half a foot in reach.

I don’t think Hatton realizes how much he’s lost in all this time he’s been away. The mind plays tricks on inactive fighters by playing a highlight real from the past and making them think they can still jump back into that world and perform like they once did. Sorry, that’s not possible. Hatton had his time and he can’t go back to where he was. If he’s lucky, Hatton will be 60% of what he was when Manny Pacquiao knocked him out in two rounds. Hatton looked shot then. Can you imagine what he’s like now? It’s going to be too easy for Senchenko. I’m not high on Senchenko but he’s definitely good enough to put Hatton out of his misery.
