N’Dam said he had a rematch clause signed for the fight. However, what hurts him in this case is that the World Boxing Organization doesn’t let their fighters give immediate rematches, so this could get in the way of N’Dam getting a badly wanted rematch.

According to RingTV, N’Dam claims that he didn’t realize that Quillin had such a good left hook, and that he had trained specifically to avoid his powerful right hand.

N’Dam found out the hard way how good Quillin’s left hook was, as he was knocked down five out of the six times he was dropped in the fight by left hands. To his credit, N’Dam got back to his feet each time and kept fighting hard, but he was really hurt by the fact that he was knocked down twice in the 4th, 6th and 12th rounds. N’Dam ended up losing the fight by the scores of 115-107, 115-107 and 115-107.

He gave Quillin a lot of problems with his aggression and high work rate. Quillin looked very beatable in the rounds where he was unable to knock N’Dam down. The problem for N’Dam was the he couldn’t take Quillin’s left hook and was either getting knocked down or staggered by the shot every time you’d turn around.

Schaefer said to RingTV “There is a rematch clause if it’s economically feasible, so I’ll be talking to the networks to see what can be done. But the WBO does not recognize immediate rematches… he is certainly the kind of fighter that we would like to see back here in the United States.”

It doesn’t sound as if Schaefer will be pushing hard for the N’Dam-Quillin rematch. You can see why because N’Dam really gave Quillin problems throughout the fight with his jab, speed and constant pressure. Sure, Quillin won the fight, but a rematch might be different if N’Dam were able to take away Quillin’s left hook.

It’s not expected that Golden Boy will put Quillin in with anyone that is considered dangerous. They’ll likely have him milk his title against the average run of the mill contenders the WBO has ranked in their top 15.
