Haye encouraging Fury to trash talk David Price

Image: Haye encouraging Fury to trash talk David PriceBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye makes it perfectly clear that he has absolutely zero interest in fighting former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s). Haye, 32, only wants to fight one of the Klitschkos and then go off into another retirement for however long that lasts. But Haye likes the idea of Fury trash talking Price in order to help build their future fight.

Haye said to Rte.ie “What Fury is doing is good. The more he talks the bigger the fight with price will be. He should keep talking because he isn’t really fighting anyone at the moment.”

Haye is basically giving Fury all his tricks in how he was able to talk his way into a fight first with WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev, who Haye didn’t deserve to fight, and then he talked his way into a fight with Wladimir Klitschko after having only defended the World Boxing Association strap twice in easy wins over overmatched John Ruiz and Audley Harrison. Haye hadn’t proven jack at that point and didn’t deserve to be anywhere near Wladimir, yet he talked his way into the fight and got exposed the way he likely would have had he fought one of the good top contenders.

Fury seems to be following Haye’s lead quite nicely with his daily trash talking, but I fear he’s going to run out of things to say about Price sooner or later because it’s not as if they’re going to be fighting any time soon. And Price isn’t helping matters any by fighting nothing but weak opposition.

You can’t expect Price to do any of the heavy lifting in trying to make the Price-Fury fight a big deal, not when Price is fighting guys like John McDermott, Audley Harrison and Matt Skelton. Fury’s not much help either with his fights against Martin Rogan and Vinny Maddalone. Fury had the chance to fight the talented Deontay Wilder but chose not to fight him. Wilder now thinks Fury is a coward for not fighting him.
