Image: Froch: Yusaf Mack will be even better at super middleweightBy Scott Gilfoid: It looks like IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) is starting to fully realize how much he’s stepped in it by choosing the hard hitting, quicker and dare I say more talented Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) to defend his strap against on November 17th at the Capital FM Arena, in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom.

I guess the plan must have been for Froch and his promoter Eddie Hearn to drag a big light heavyweight down in weight and then have a field day against the weight drained fighter. However, Froch is now learning that Mack is actually a super middleweight who has been fighting out of his own weight class by competing at light heavyweight and I can see the fear starting to set in with Froch.

Froch said “There’s a potential concern that he’s going to be even better at super middleweight than what he was at light heavyweight…This is a serious operator…He’s probably going to be 15 to 20″ better than that.”

I smel fear coming from you, Froch. No, Mack is going to be more like 40%, maybe even 50% better. The man has been hurting himself by fighting as a light heavyweight against the giant fighters, and thank god he’s been saved by this wrong-headed move to pick him as an opponent. This is going to go bad for you on November 17th. I hope you don’t mind losing in front of all your British fans.

Froch has seen plenty of Mack’s past fights by now and he knows what he’s in for by the hard hitting fighter. Mack is going to be a lot better, and a lot stronger at this weight. He’s already faster and more athletic than Froch, but it’s going to be much more pronounced now that he’s fighting someone that’s not so large nor fast. Mack is going to have a lot of advantages in this fight, and I see it going to pieces quickly for Froch. I hope for his sake that Eddie has a rematch clause built into the contract with Mack, because it might be the only way that Froch is going to be able to try and win back his title after he loses.

Mack is already ahead of Froch with his tricks. Mack has seen Froch’s fight with Lucian Bute, and he doesn’t plan on making the same sick mistakes that Bute did by backing up to the ropes and letting Froch tee off of him. Mack is going to keep Froch in the center of the ring where Froch is a lot more limited.
