Mack has a good chance of stunning Froch in the early going with his big shots. Mack is probably the biggest puncher that Froch has ever fought before, and we’ve seen in the past that Froch can get hurt when tagged by hard shots. Andre Dirrell did it, and so did Jermain Taylor, to name just a couple. However, Mack has got some chin problems and he’s going to have to get to Froch early if he’s going to win this fight. I can see Mack’s chin betraying him if he can’t blast the Brit out within three or four rounds.

Not only has Hearn and Froch picked out a vulnerable fighter in the 32-year-old Mack, who has been stopped twice in the last two years, but they also get the benefit of Mack having to melt down from 175 to 168 for the fight to happen. Mack has to move down from light heavyweight, and odds are probably good that it’s going to weaken Mack enough to where he’ll likely not make it too far into the fight before he gets knocked out.

It’s always nice to get a fighter to come down from a higher weight to your own weight and getting the benefit of them being weakened. What I still can’t understand, though, is why Hearn simply didn’t pick and actual super middleweight to fight Froch instead of dragging a guy with a questionable chin down from the light heavyweight division to fight him.

I don’t think it’s sporting by doing that to the guy unless there’s going to be a catchweight involved so that the guy isn’t totally weight drained. Unfortunately, the last time I checked, Mack isn’t getting a catchweight and will have to fight Froch at 168. That’s too bad because a catchweight would have given Mack a fighting chance to win this fight instead of being someone that will probably be too weakened from having drained down to make the super middleweight limit.
