Garcia knocked Khan out in four rounds in a fight where Khan hit the canvas three times.

In contrast, Garcia had to struggle to defeat Morales by a 12 round unanimous decision last March in a fight that saw the 24-year-old Garcia suffer a broken nose at the hands of Morales’ powerful jabs.

Garcia said to World Boxing Council News at suljos.com “Morales definitely gave me a harder fight than Khan and also gave me a chance to fight for a title. If anyone deserved a rematch, it’s Erik Morales for giving me my first chance. That is boxing respect.”

Khan started off like he was going to give Garcia a tough fight in the first two rounds, hitting him hard with jabs and combinations while moving quickly around the ring to avoid Garcia’s biggest shots. However, the bout changed in the 3rd round when Khan stood in front of Garcia and tried to slug with him. This is all that Garcia needed, as he unloaded with a hard left hook that caught Khan on his neck and was dropped from the shot. After that, Khan was never the same and was taken out in the 4th after getting knocked down twice more.

Morales was definitely tougher than Khan, but he still wasn’t all that competitive because he lacked the speed and power to compete with Garcia. He tried hard but all Morales had going for him was his jab and that wasn’t nearly enough to win the fight.

Garcia and Morales will be facing each other at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. The fight will be televised by Showtime, and in addition to this fight the card will have Paulie Malignaggi vs. Pablo Cesar Cano, Hassan N’Jikam N’Dam vs. Peter Quillin, Daniel Jacobs vs. Josh Luteran, and Randall Bailey vs. Devon Alexander.
