By Alex Prodromou: Chavez Jr needs no introduction. He is an OK fighter, but that’s about it. He lost his last fight against now WBC Middleweight Champ Sergio Martinez. Obviously there has been a Marijuana event that has over looked the event. The event that I am talking about is not just the Marijuana event but it is that Chavez Jr needs Enzo Calzaghe as his trainer.

If you watch the fight back you will see that Chavez’s corner was very disorganized. At one point he had 5 people telling him what to do. You could see nothing that was being said was going into his head. His dad Chavez Sr went and told one of the corner men in the fight some instructions. This was then told to Chavez Jr in a nice and pleasant manner. He doesn’t need this. He needs someone who is going to give him a slap and swear at him, he needs something to mentally associate the instruction with. He also needs someone who is going to scream and shout and go mad with passion.

This is also the view of world class trainer Robert Garcia. He said to Ellie Seckbach that Chavez jr also needs Enzo Calzaghe. Enzo is someone who will discipline Chavez when he doesn’t feel like going to a training session or when he talks out of term. This Enzo Calzaghe is the only trainer that will be able to control Chavez Jr and make him reach his full potential. Chavez only started taking boxing seriously when he was 17 and this means that he has come a long way in a short time. This also shows that he is talented enough and he is just in danger of falling back into his Lazy habits. This is not what anyone wants as he is around his peak and he will not get much better. So you don’t want to abuse your body by not training at your peek. If he ever wants to be as great as his Dad he is going to have to train hard and someone needs to tell him he won’t do it by just lazing around.
