Image: Broner on his way to greatness with win over DeMarcoBy Scott Gilfoid: Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) first stop off while on his way to setting the boxing world on fire is a fight against WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO’s) next month on November 17th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Broner, 23, will dominate DeMarco and take his strap.

From there Broner will move onto taking the other lightweight straps against Miguel Vazquez and Ricky Burns. Broner will likely have problems getting a fight with Burns, because once Broner destroys DeMarco, I expect Burns to be kept far, far away from Broner to where he’ll never get a fight with him. Right now, Broner’s name is being mentioned by Burn’s promoters about a possible unification match between them.

However, I see that changing once they see how badly Broner destroys DeMarco. That’s change everything, believe me. Besides that, I think Burns’ promoter is merely name dropping Broner’s name so that his fighter Burns can get recognition with the U.S boxing public. I don’t see Burns being allowed to fight Broner, no way. We won’t be seeing that fight. Instead, we’ll probably see Burns matched up against guys like John Murray and Gavin Rees in nice title milking fights.

Broner is already being mentioned as the next Floyd Mayweather Jr. with his flashy Mayweather-like fighting style and his over the top personality. He’s like a new Mayweather, all fresh and ready to take over the boxing world. DeMarco has a chance to stop Broner from realizing his dream by somehow beating him. I don’t see it happening.

DeMarco was getting handled fairly easily by Jorge Linares last year in October until Linares suffered some bad cuts late in the fight and was blinded by the blood. It was only then that DeMarco was able to come on and win the fight. It’s wasn’t, however, a fight where DeMarco dominated the whole time because he didn’t. It was Linares. DeMarco was also exposed by Edwin Valero in a 9th round stoppage loss to him in February 2010.
