(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: Angel Garcia, the father of WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (24-0, 15 KO’s), was very angry at the final press conference, jawing back and forth with Erik Morales’s team. Afterwards, Angel said he couldn’t reveal what they were arguing about but he said that Danny Garcia is going to punish Morales badly for what happened.

Angel said to RingTV “Danny previously just wanted to beat Erik Morales, but now he wants to whip him.”

One can only guess what has set Angel Garcia off, but it could be Erik’s failed test with the USADA. There were irregularities that showed up in the first sample of the testing for this fight from Morales, and now they’re going to be looking at the second sample to see if they can clear Morales. Is this the issue that is setting Angel and Danny Garcia off? I don’t know but it is a strange coincidence, isn’t it?

Erik Morales confirmed in the press conference that he isn’t just taking this fight for the money. Morales says his retirement will be coming soon, although it won’t be after this fight.

Garcia has the power and the skills to stop Morales, but it’s still going to be really difficult for Garcia to do so because the fights where Morales has been stopped is when he was weight drained and getting jumped by a nonstop puncher in Manny Pacquiao.

Garcia isn’t anywhere near as active as Pacquiao was in the prime of his career. Garcia likes to land a hard shot and then stand back and survey the kind of damage that he did. That’s not going to work against Morales. Garcia will have to really pour it on if he wants to get a KO against Morales because he can take an occasional big shot without any problem.
