By Jim Dower: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40 KO’s) weighed in earlier today for his fight tomorrow night agaisnt #7 WBC Manuel Charrl (21-0, 11 KO’s) at the Olimpiyskiy, in Moscow, Russia. The 41-year-old Vitali came in seven pounds heavier than Charr at 248 pounds. Charr, 27, weighed in at 241.4 lbs, which is about what he’s been weighing in past fights.

This will be the 41-year-old Vitali’s 9th title defense of his World Boxing Council heavyweight crown and it will likely be his last unless former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is able to coax Vitali into stepping inside the ring one last time for a big money fight next year.

Charr is an incredibly confident fighter but without the skills or the experience that would warrant his supreme confidence. He’s never looked very good in any of his fights and he’s struggled against journeyman level opposition such as Zack Page and Danny Williams. He’s someone that doesn’t have huge power, but who can hurt you if you stand in one place and let him bludgeon you all night. Vitali isn’t going to stand in one place on Saturday, so this should be a fairly cut and dried mismatch.

It’s a fight that the Vitali’s fans will like because it’ll be one-sided from start to finish. It’s just too bad that Vitali couldn’t have found someone with actual skills and a chance of beating him. Even a rematch against Dereck Chisora would easily top this fight. Chisora gave Vitali a lot of problems last February in losing a 12 round decision. Charr will be lucky if he can make it to the 6th round unless Vitali carries him.
