By Eric Thomas: A rematch between WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (29-0, 12 KO’s) and IBF light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (30-1-1, 15 KO’s) is possible for December 15th according to news from RingTV. Bob Arum, the promoter for Bradley, says that Peterson, 28, is one of the names that is in the running for Bradley’s first defense of his WBO title on 15th of December.

Bradley already easily beat Peterson by a one-sided 12 round decision in December 2009, winning by the scores of 118-110, 119-108 and 120-107.

Arum will be making a decision by next week whether Bradley will be facing Peterson or someone else. Former two division world champion Zab Judah is also a possibility for Bradley, as well as for Peterson. Judah has found his way back into getting another crack at a title after he beat previously undefeated contender Vernon Paris by a 9th round TKO last March in an IBF light welterweight title eliminator bout. Judah made it look easy in beating Paris in that fight.

Bradley defeated Manny Pacquiao in a huge upset last June in Las Vegas to take his WBO title. Pacquiao and many boxing fans felt that Bradley didn’t do enough to get the win. However, because he was by far the more active fighter in there that night the judges saw him as the better man. It’s one of things where it’s hard to really tell who should have won the fight, because Pacquiao landed the cleaner shots, but he wasn’t active during long stretches of every round and let Bradley dictate the action during those periods of the rounds.

Bradley is hoping to get a big money fight for his December 15th date, but there are few options out there right now for him. Pacquiao has already agreed to fight Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8th, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is mute about when he’ll be fighting again. You can rest assured than when Mayweather Jr. does fight, it likely won’t be against Bradley after his disappointing pay per view numbers in his fight with Pacquiao.
