Showing poise, intelligence and awesome power, Golovkin toyed with the hard hitting Proksa, knocking him down three times in getting a 5th round KO victory.

What was so impressive about Golovkin’s victory was how easy it was for him. Proksa is a damn good fighter, with excellent and amazing skills. Proksa had given guys like Sebastian Sylvester and Kerry Hope fits in their fights, but he was completely lost against Golovkin. He was able to hit Golokin, but the problem was when Golovkin would fire back his own shots, Proksa couldn’t handle it. He seemed to panic after getting hurt in the 1st and never really regained his composure in the fight.

It was mostly target practice for Golovkin after the 1st round, as he made it look like an easy sparring session against a sparring partner picked up off the street. Proksa looked that bad against Golovkin.

Golovkin wants the winner of the Sergio Martinez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fight, but he doesn’t have a realistic chance of getting that fight. Martinez wants to fight only big names, and Chavez Jr’s promoter Bob Arum has been reluctant until now to put him in with guys that can fight like Golovkin or Martinez. We’re now seeing Chavez Jr. fight Martinez, but the timing of the fight is after two poor performances from Martinez.

A more realistic fight option for Golovkin is a bout against Dmitry Pirog or Peter Quillin if he’s able to pick up the WBO middleweight title.
