De La Hoya said on his twitter page “Deontay will now fight on Showtime next. He is ready for Top 10 [contender].”

I completely agree with De La Hoya. The 6’7″ Wilder is definitely ready for a top 10 heavyweight contender for his next fight after destroying Damon McCreary by a 2nd round TKO last Saturday night in a very impressive performance.

Here’s what De La Hoya will likely be choosing from for Wilder’s next fight from the top 10:

Luis Ortiz
Tony Thompson
Chris Arreola
Carlos Takam
Shane Cameron
Edmund Gerber
Bermane Stiverne
Bryant Jennings
Kubrat Pulev

De La Hoya needs to pick someone that can take Wilder’s right hand shots and last long long enough go give him some rounds, because he’s knocking everyone out too quickly. Wilder’s power is just so good that no one stand in there with him for long without getting badly hurt from his right hand shots.

Wilder is hoping to get a world title shot by the summer next year. For that to happen he’s going to have to stay busy by fighting once a month to get ranked high enough to get a mandatory title shot.

Being televised on Showtime is a really big deal for Wilder, because he’ll be seen by millions of boxing fans instead of a limited number in his fights on Fox.
