For Dawson, the road is perilous, but the rewards are unparalleled. It has been well known that Dawson has experienced difficulty in filling seats. That could all change tonight.

This fight shows what kind of champion Chad Dawson is. The kind of champion who isn’t contented to just defend his WBC light heavyweight belt. He wants to scale new heights and constantly challenge himself. This frame of mind could make him very popular. Dawson doesn’t really need to take this challenge. He is number one at light heavyweight. He is the WBC champion. yet he is stepping down in weight, meeting Ward on terms that don’t really help him in anyway. It could be a huge mistake agreeing to go down in weight.

Andre ward is the pound for pound ranked WBA and WBC super middleweight champion. He has completely outclassed many top fighters who were natural at his weight.

I personally rate Ward very highly and its difficult to see his weaknesses. But I can think of one, ring rust. This is the first time Ward has fought this year. There is no way to know how this will affect him, all that matters is that it could affect him. some fighters are fine, with others it plays havoc with their timing. I think the outcome will come down to one question, will the disadvantage from Ward’s inactivity be greater than the weight disadvantage face by Dawson?
