By Marcus Stewart: British light heavyweight Tony Bellew (18-1, 12 KO’s) is flying the flag proudly for British boxing after stopping Edison Miranda in the 9th round. This win has catapulted Bellew officially onto the world scene and he has proven to many doubters that he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Miranda had his odd couple of successes in the fight, but throughout the majority of fight Bellew dominated him, landing solid jabs constantly and throwing good flurries of punches in every single round. Bellew thought a methodical and well thought out fight, jumping in and out of range smartly instead of trading off against the hard hitting Colombian.

Matchroom sport promotions really know how to put on a great show. Despite the main event there were two great undercard bouts as well including Lee Purdy, who put on a tremendous performance to stop undefeated Argentine Gumersindo Carrasco, and Eric Ochieng who managed to stop Ryan Toms with a perfect left hook to the body in the 4th round.

Anyone that underrated Tony Bellew can eat their hearts out as I believe that he is now ready for the likes of Jean Pascal and Beibut Shumenov. His chance to become a world champion will come again and I believe that he’ll be a match of any light heavyweight in the world.
