Lebedev, 33, fought for the WBO cruiserweight title in December of 2010, losing to champion Marco Huck in a controversial 12 round split decision in Huck’s adopted country of Germany.

A lot of boxing fans felt that Huck won a hometown decision in that fight, but there wasn’t anything that could be done about it, and Huck didn’t bother to give Lebedev a rematch in order to try and clear up the controversy.

This time, the Russian born Lebedev will have hometown advantage against the 6’4″, 40-year-old Jones and this could be a telling factor that gets Lebedev at least to the point where he’ll have a good chance of winning a decision if the fight goes to the cards. It’s still going to be tough for Lebedev, because Jones is well known for his high work rate, and with his huge height and reach advantage over Lebedev, he could be too much for him in a decision.

Lebedev has had some good fights recently since losing to Huck, as he’s beaten Roy Jones Jr., James Toney and Shawn Cox since then. Those were some good fights that gave Lebedev some valuable experience as he goes into the bout with Jones.

Guillermo Jones hasn’t lost a fight since getting beaten by Steve Cunningham by a 10 round split decision in April 2005. Jones has won seven fights since that time, beating Wayne Braithwaite, Kelvin Davis, Jeremy Bates, Firat Arslan, Zack Page, Valery Brudov and Michael Marrone.
